Republicans Happier Than Democrats
Here's the story from the Pew Research Center...
"The Pew Research Center recently updated a question about
happiness that the National Opinion Research Center at
the University of Chicago has been asking since 1972.
In every asking of the question, ROLL CALL reports,
Republicans have been happier than Democrats.
Republicans tend to be better off than Democrats,
and that is one explanation for the happiness gap.
But when the researchers controlled for household
income, Republicans at all income levels were happier
than Democrats at those same income levels.
As for ideology, conservative Republicans were happier
than conservative Democrats, and moderate to liberal
Republicans were happier than comparable Democrats."
This is a no brainer.
The natural tendency of a Liberal is to look for
someone to solve their problems for them.
Republicans tend to view the opportunity to
solve their own problems in a positive light.
Big government rarely "solves" anything.
Thus, Liberals always wind up disappointed
while Republicans always feel they are
making progress on a long journey
to success.
They could have just sent the check to me
instead of spending all that money to
discover common knowledge.

If republicans are in fact happier than liberals (which I really doubt is true in the first place), then it is most likely because they are too wrapped up in their own selfishness and the republican propeganda to realize what is really going on around them.

Republicans being concerned with the long journey... now that is funny.
Does destroying the environment for the sole purpose of profit qualify as being concerned with the long journey?

Republicans being happier than liberals has been a known statistical fact from polling for quite a few years now.
Not selfish, we just don't want to be responsible for those aren't responsible enough to take care of themselves.
What I find most troubling is that I can't opt out of supporting them and they can opt out of supporting themselves.
Who's rights are being trampled on here?
In spite of having to carry the load for these people, we still manage to find a way to enjoy life and be happy.
As for the environment pal, you are just as guilty as the next guy.
You buy the products, you drive the cars, you fly on the planes, and you throw away your garbage.
Want to product the environment?
Start practicing what you preach.

It's likely that Republican are happier because they view life as black and white. I wish I could see a poor person and said, "Ha, look at that, that person is just lazy and as a result is poor. They deserve what they get." Or better yet, "You voted for Kerry? Well you must be a unpatriotic communist liberal." Republicans don't nuasance things. Most of them just repeat tripe fed to them by that pill-popper Rush L.

Well, you are right about voting for Kerry and being an unpatriotic communist liberal.
As for the poor or downtrodden by fate (as opposed to choice), we certainly don't look down on these folks with such jest. That is a bit insulting.
We are optimistic because we know if we work hard and play by the rules, we are very likely to get ahead. So, we are always looking forward to the future with anticipation. We only wish far more people would get back in the game and share our joy rather than sitting on the sidelines because of self-imposed obstacles to their success.
