Leap Frog Word Wammer Won't Say "God"

Interesting tidbit I'd like to pass on.

My wife and I were playing with our
2 1/2 year old son Caeden last night.

We were playing with the Leap Frog Word Whammer.

It is a little toy which is used to teach
children 3 letter words. The child puts
individual letter blocks in the correct
place. If it spells a real word, the toy
repeats the letters and says out loud
what the word spells.

Without paying much attention, my wife
and Caeden put the following letters in
the toy: G O D

The toy recognized the letters but refused
to say the word GOD.

Can you believe this crap?

The CEO of that company is lucky
he/she wasn't in our living room.

If looks could kill, they'd be dead...

  • Very interesting. Can't be random.

From a humorist perspective, the Frog population is diminishing worldwide. Perhaps it because the Leap Frogs have no God.

    Love your Data Wrapper app...

    Thanks!

  • I figured that the company may have done this to avoid conflicts with selling the product for use in public schools or institutions.

Either way, it irritated us both.

By the way, I've published an upgraded version of the ADO.NET Object Mapper to support .NET 2.0 Generics and the new Xml data type in SQL Server 2005.

  • Hi Robbe
thanks for you slider, they are very nice, but I have problem in using them now.
Now I built three sliders, and I have weight for each of them, how to implement that the sliders are in the suitable position with the weight?i mean how to use the function convertweighttowidth?
    thx

  • I'm not sure whether the slider article mentions this or not. The original weights for a group of slider bars must equal 100 prior to loading them in the page.

That old version of the slider will work in IE 5.5 and above. It may not work properly in FireFox since that browser came out well after I wrote that control. I have a another version that offers weight entry via a textbox for down level browsers but haven't yet made that available.

  • Wow dude, what kind of christian fanatic are you?

"If looks could kill, they'd be dead..."

Great role model for your kid.

  • Oh come now, it was just a figure of speech to animate how irritated we were.

    Nobody is advocating killing anybody.

  • If you had done a little investigating you would see that the Leap Frog Word Whammer will not say any proper noun. God, Tom, Ron, Jew, none of them.

  • Actually, I did visit the company site and it didn't say anything.

I just hit us the wrong way. We get tired of everything but Christianity being included or a lawsuit will follow.
