Iraq, WMD, Saddam, and the media
Read this story on msnbc and then ask yourself:
"What makes this guy's story any more believable
than anybody's elses prior to the Iraq war?"
"Why does the media now characterize this as
the truth and is somehow the smoking gun that
Bush lied?"

Imagine yourself in the oval office. You've
been reviewing all sorts of reports regarding
WMD from your own intelligence agency, the Israelis,
the Russians, and Europe. Then, some high ranking
diplomat from Iraq with no direct ties to the
Iraqi military makes these sorts of claims.
Would you really believe him if you were
Bush.
I just love the liberal media...

LIBERAL MEDIA??? You're joking, right??
There IS no more Liberal Media in the U.S.
The media in this country - Fox, NY Times et al - is now so far to the Right it's not even funny. And still the Right-Wingers whine about the "Liberal Media". What a joke.
If there WAS a Liberal Media in this country, there would be screaming from the rooftops about what a screwed-up quagmire of a war we're in in Iraq, on false pretenses. Instead, we get nonsense about "Look at the progress in Iraq - they now have running water in some places!" Newsflash- there was running water, and almost NO Al Quaeda-style terrorists, in Iraq when Hussein was in power. So, years after bombing Iraq back to the Stone Age, we've finally restored the basics of life to where they're ALMOST as good as they were before we started?? And that's PROGRESS? Sheesh... Not to mention that Iraq is now one giant Terrorist breeding-ground, because most Iraqis understand that the reason we went over there had everything to do with oil, and nothing else...The Republican Think-Tank which guided the Bushies before they got into power had been planning for years to take over Iraq under one pretense or another. When 9-11 happened, they were JUMPING FOR JOY that they had even a flimsy excuse for attacking!
Let me ask you this...if what we're doing in Iraq is "fighting terrorism", never mind that there were no terrorists in that country other than its leader, then WHY DID WE STOP IN AFGHANISTAN before the job was done? We **let** Bin Laden escape. The fact of the matter is that Bush doesn't WANT Bin Laden found. He wants to keep waving his name as a bogeyman so we keep our mouths shut while he dismantles the Constitution in the name of "security". Let me quote Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Or is Franklin a "Left-winger" in your mind??
Conditions in Afghanistan are right back where they were pre-9-11. The Taliban, or its former members, are back in power in all but name.
HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY THIS??? Sorry for yelling, but sometimes you need to to get you point across...
And before you rip me for replying anonymously, let me say that there was a time in this country, before your leader Bush took away all our rights to privacy, when I might have been willing to post publically. Not that they won't find me if they really want...because people like you have stood by and cheered while honset citizens have had their phone calls bugged illegally, etc.

I'll admit, it is a bit cowardly to post stuff like this anonymously. But, I'll publish it anyway.
A few corrections of fact are in order.
There is definitely a liberal slant to the media. FoxNews is definitely more balanced. The New York Times is so far left it is sickening. The fact that they like to publish false stories is beside the fact.
The liberal media is screaming from the rooftops. Are you deaf and blind?
Iraq
1. Saddam paying PLO terrorists
and advertised it publicly.
2. Two different Al-Qaeda bases
in remote Iraq. Covered
by many authors and journalists.
3. The death and destruction
these days is focused on a
huge power struggle between
those who want freedom and
those who want Islamic law
to dominate their lives.
Notice, most attacks are
now focused on civilians
and not the Americans?
Islam is such a peaceful
religion practiced by a
bunch of extremely violent
people.
4. The stuff about jumping
for joy in Iraq before
9-11 is just moronic.
5. We have found WMD in Iraq.
Tons of it. Just not
anywhere near the quantity
expected. Where did it go?
The U.S. gave him far
more than he could account
for? Lesser of two evils
from the 80's war with Iran.
If he didn't have any, why
not let the inspectors have
full access? He knows we'd
never let Iran talk over Iraq
and control that much oil.
6. Afghanistan. We are still there
and we haven't quit. The
CIA did f up when they put
too much faith in the afghan
warlords. Definitely f'd up.
Bin Laden is either in Iran
or westeran Pakistan. Very
tough choices there...
7. The wire tapping is reviewed
and is only used when at
least one party is suspected
of being affiliated with
terrorists.
You have never had the "right"
to have an unmonitored phone
call during a war.
8. As for being afraid. My blog
software has captured your
street address, phone number,
computer identity, and the
size of your left ear. I called
the fbi on you. They should
arrive shortly. Paranoid.
Get a grip...
What you are missing is the story
from the soldiers over there. The emotional stories they tell of people feeling so blessed that the Americans are there and how much we help them. My two cousins are serving proudly and would do it all over again.
The fact is, they brought freedom to millions and all people like you can do is bitch.
