2006 November Elections

I really just have one question before I summarize
what has been accomplished under Republican
governance:

What is the liberal democratic plan for bringing
a lasting peace to Iraq?

I've heard how they are going to be smarter.

Do they mean smarter in the same way Clinton
got snuckered with the North Koreans?

I've heard how they are going to talk to our
"allies".

What exactly would they say or offer that hasn't
already been said or offered? Is it just their
charm that will suddenly cause them to change
their minds?

Aside from Iraq. Here's what has
transpired:

1. Economy booming for 3 straight years
after the Bush tax cuts

2. No additional terrorist attacks
on American soil.

3. Stock market booming. Have
you looked at your 401k lately?

4. The seniors have a popular
welfare benefit in the form
of prescription drugs

5. Housing market boom due to a
fantastic economy. Just
how much cash did you pocket
over the last couple years?

6. Treasury receipts are way up
because of the booming economy.

7. Illegal Immigration. You
forced Congress and the President
to build the fence. It is only
a start but it is definitely
in the right direction.

8. Judge Alito and Roberts. Need
I say more.

Think long and hard about the prospect of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid running Congress. I know the Vietnam vets remember what it was like not to have Congress stand behind you while the slugs are wissing by your ears on the battlefield.

5 Comments:

  • 1. After falling drastically first
    2. How many terrorist attacks ever during Democrat presidents?
    3. Also after dropping dramatically.
    5. The housing market boom is an international phenomenon due to several demographic factors, none of which had anything to do with Bush. Most people haven't pocketed anything. To pocket the gain you need to sell the house and start renting. How many have done that?
    6. See 1 and 3.
    7. Is this a good thing?

  • Fantastic job. I'm proud of your willingness to recognize the failures of the Clinton economy.
You should compare the GDP growth
numbers for the entire 8 years of
    Clinton versus Bush.

1 and 3 commentary about things going poorly at first and then getting better is a reflection on the status of the economy when Bush came into office.

    2 - Forget '93 first world trade
    center bombing? The attack
on the USS Cole? Need I
    go on?

5 - That is a load of BS

7 - The fence needs to be
    longer...

Again, great job on hammering home
    my point.

  • Well, it's Wednesday, and I am depressed. I can't believe the results of the elections.

And what depresses me most? Nancy Pelosi! Although, it will be funny to see what she does when she gets caught in some scandal...and trust me, it will happen. Let's see if she learned anything from her close friends, the Clintons.

Thanks for keeping this rolling, Robbe. I've been lurking for some time, but it seems you don't have too many people on your side...so you can count me in as one of them.

  • As for terrorist attacks it should be remembered that 9/11, Khobar towers, and the Beirut marine barracks attacks all occurred while a Republican was president. Yes, there were a couple under Clinton. But far more Americans died because of terrorism under Republicans.

And, unlike Bush, Clinton took far more precautionary actions to avoid domestic attacks as shown in the 9/11 Commission Report which, of course, was supervised by a Republican.

    Peace ...

  • It is definitely true that previous administrations did next to nothing to address Islamic extremism and terrorist attacks. This includes all parties. W was the only one who reacted properly especially after having been in office such a short period of time.
